Hand-building Clay Vessels and Intro to Potter's Wheel

All levels welcome! New six (6) week class led by local ceramicist Jim Wolf Bacerra will take you through the basics of clay hand-building techniques, and an introduction to wheel throwing the last two sessions. Come join our clay fanatic's group as we journey to design some original types of hand-building clay projects with various techniques both functional and abstract. You will learn and practice pinch, slab, and coil skills, but each piece you create will also bear your own unique touch. Building, surface texturing, and glazing will all be introduced. Students should already be comfortable preparing and handling clay for working and glazing. Please plan to attend all six classes as knowledge will build on the previous week's practice.

Note: Participants are encouraged to bring their own project and design ideas. Let's get busy and collaborate on some truly unique works of arte!  

All materials are provided. Please dress comfortably in clothes that are easily laundered.

What Not to Wear:

• Do not wear any dangling jewelry or lanyards that can interfere with work or get damaged.
  
• Do not wear clothing with loose sleeves or draped or dangling elements that can interfere with work or get damaged.
  
• No open toe shoes (anywhere in the facility)
• Long hair and beards should be securely tied back.
• Currently face masks are not required in the facility, but all efforts to limit the spread of viral infections are appreciated.
