Not all ideas can be bound by a computer screen. Many of the most impactful ideas can only be realized through physical creation. It is with this in mind that Fresno Ideaworks sets about equipping its shop spaces.

Laser Cutting & Clean Room
Laser cutters work by burning through or into wood, plastic, and cardboard. Because of this, the laser cutter is located in it’s own room for proper ventilation.
We also have a clean room (well… sort of clean anyway) that is separated from the dust the main area of the shop generates. This area is used for Art and Design, sewing, yarn spinning, computers, Raspberry Pi, Arduino, and other various uses.
Bike Shop & Moped Alley
We currently have small hand tools for adjusting your bicycles, and some specialty tools needed for major repairs. Bike parts and frames are available for rebuild, or modification into an original mutant bike.
There are about eight mopeds in various stages of repair and modification. Future plans are for a moped brigade to participate in local parades.
Ideaworks has an 8-foot CNC router that is capable of 2D cutting and 3D molding projects. This is our largest piece of equipment and it’s located in our Wood Shop.
Three 3D printers — NEW! Flashforge Creator Pro 3D Printer with dual extruders for 2-color printing or using dissolvable filament. We also have a 3D Printrbot, and a 3D Delta Printer (3D Delta is currently out of service).
Laser cutter capable of burning through 3/8″ wood, some plastics, and cardboard. Laser cutters can also be used to etch pictures or graphics on materials.
Full wood, machine, and welding shops are the workhorses that form the heart of our shop. It’s this core that the modern prototyping and technology shops are built around. This full complement of manufacturing options makes Fresno Ideaworks one of the most complete prototyping environments in the Valley.
However, it’s not finished. In fact it won’t be. New processes, new methods, and additional needs keep us constantly looking for the equipment and experts we need to enhance our offerings. So, while we started with the traditional big three, we’re actively pursuing everything from ceramics to screen printing to vacuum forming. After all, there is no limit on innovation or the processes it leverages.
